In Welcome To Asbestos Hall there are five different types of Visits, and none are the same. Do you want the full experience of the material Trajal Harrell is working on? Then we recommend attending all Visits once. Our tip: combine them with other activities within Welcome To Asbestos Hall and fully immerse yourself in the world of Trajal Harrell. For Visit #3 dancer and costumedesigner Stephen Galloway designed the costumes.
What distinguishes the five Visits (#1, #2, #3, #4 and #5) is impossible to predict. Each Visit is a snapshot within an ongoing process and will be presented on different moments during the festival. Together they form a dynamic progression, in which you always discover a new facet of the work. During the day, Harrell works with his dancers, in the evening they play in front of an audience.
‘The studio visit will not be a similar experience to visiting a big show. There may be some familiar elements, but overall, it will be more fast and dirty. More intimate. I think it will be very touching in its very own way: a new and heartful experience that requires some patience, willingness and maybe some forgiveness. There will be bigger and smaller creations, pop-up performances, late-night parties as well as guest artists that will arrange different kinds of experiences. We will provide forums for discussion and food for thought.’
