Associate artist Trajal Harrell transforms the location Likeminds in Amsterdam-Noord into a dynamic, creative space for experimentation, exchange and encounters: Welcome to Asbestos Hall. For three weeks, Harrell works here with his dancers on new material. During these Visits, you’ll get a unique glimpse into the creation process.
The Visits are not performances in the traditional sense, but dynamic parts of an ongoing artistic experiment. It's a snapshot within an ongoing process that will be presented on different moments during the festival. What you’ll see is different each time: a new fragment, a fresh idea, an unexpected turn.
Our tip? Immerse yourself in the world of Harrell and the performers. Attend multiple Visits to watch the work unfold, or combine one with other activities in Welcome to Asbestos Hall.
‘The studio visit will not be a similar experience to visiting a big show. There may be some familiar elements, but overall, it will be more fast and dirty. More intimate. I think it will be very touching in its very own way: a new and heartful experience that requires some patience, willingness and maybe some forgiveness. There will be bigger and smaller creations, pop-up performances, late-night parties as well as guest artists that will arrange different kinds of experiences. We will provide forums for discussion and food for thought.’
