In the first year of the pandemic, and Emily Ansenk’s first years as director, the Holland Festival was forced to cancel its original programme. Instead, there was an online version titled Holland Festival 2.0-2.0, intended to be as near to the original programme as possible. Associate Artist Bill T. Jones’ theme was changed to ‘In pursuit of the we - in times of social distancing’.
Dancer, choreographer and director Bill T. Jones allowed audiences to get to know more about him through, among other things, an artist’s portrait. Films, concert recordings and a performance could be streamed, and audiences could individually visit the Lloyd Hotel’s tower live in order to listen to a unique excerpt from a thousand-year old composition by British composer Jem Finer.

Welcome to the Holland Festival archive! The history of our festival dates back to 1947. Through the programs of each festival edition we aim to tell this history here. Currently our archive has been digitised from 1990 onwards, more history is to follow soon. Sadly some information is only available in Dutch but we aim to be as bilingual as possible. For additions or tips send an email to [email protected].
