
During this late-night performance, keyboard player and master improviser Craig Taborn will engage in an improvised dialogue with an extraordinary instrument. The venue will be set up in such a way as to allow the audience to fully soak in the experience in an intimate setting.
Craig Taborn (Minneapolis, 1970) is an American pianist and composer who has played a pioneering role in the jazz, improv and experimental music scene for more than 25 years. With his captivating playing style, he probes the piano’s tonal hues and overtones, enthralling audiences time and again. Taborn began his musical journey at the University of Michigan’s College of Literature, Science, and the Arts.
Taborn’s broke through as a member of James Carter’s renowned band, with whom he worked until the end of the 1990s. He continued to develop during this period, which resulted in a range of projects, both solo and in collaboration with others. He definitively established his name in the 2000s with his first solo concert in New York.
Throughout his career, he has played and recorded with prominent musicians from different musical currents, including Roscoe Mitchell, Wadada Leo Smith, Lester Bowie and Dave Holland.
