Guitar heroes Bryce Dessner of The National and Jonny Greenwood of Radiohead have both been successful of late writing compositions for classical ensembles. Greenwood made headlines with his film score for Paul Thomas Anderson’s There Will Be Blood. The programme at the Holland Festival will feature the world premiere of the suite from this soundtrack and a performance of his composition Popcorn Superhet Receiver. A new work for string orchestra by Bryce Dessner will also have its world premiere. On top of that, Dessner himself will take to the stage together with his brother Aaron to perform his composition Raphael and his concert for two guitars St. Caroline by the Sea. This is a chance opportunity to get acquainted with the classical compositions of two pop icons, performed by Amsterdam Sinfonietta conducted by André de Ridder.
