What is digital art? Is the increasing use of digital media more than just a fad? Will it develop into a new art form? Lecturer Joris Weijdom of the HKU’s Media & Performance Lab discusses the various guises of digital art and explains how all things digital are shaping up in the performing arts. Artistic director Ruth Mackenzie will then discuss with Michel van der Aa, creator of The Book of Sand, and Keiichiro Shibuya, composer of digital pop phenomenon Hatsune Miku’s first opera, their vision for the development of digital technologies in the performing arts.
