Vitor Hamamoto
Profile
Dancer and choreographer Vitor Hamamoto (Brazil, 1993) is self-taught, he started pursuing dance at the age of fifteen under a variety of professionals, including Alejandro Ahmed, Felipe Hirsch, and Stephanie Thomasen. He experimented with many genres and schools through the years, focusing in the end on urban and contemporary forms. His introduction to contemporary art informed his style heavily, allowing for greater depth in his improvisations.
In 2017, he joined Uppercut Dance Theatre in Copenhagen, Denmark, for a three-year tenure, where he developed numerous works and performances. Today, he is part of Grupo Cena 11, a Dance company formed around the relations between the body, its surroundings, and objects. Their research merges theory and practice, questioning the definition of a body and its connection to technology.
