The planned show may have been cancelled, but This Evening's Performance Has Not Been Cancelled is a remarkable interactive sound art project with which theatres from various European countries allow their audiences to catch a glimpse of the works that were cancelled via their telephones. By calling a central number you will enter into a personal conversation with an ‘Usher’. Ordinarily this is someone who will show the audience to their seats, but in this case it is someone who is involved in some way with a show that was cancelled. This can be a conductor, for example, or a singer, a set designer, playwright, or someone from the marketing department. This usher will tell the caller about one of the many operas that were cancelled from his or her own perspective, ranging from the shows in the Holland Festival programme - Rusalka and The Murder of Halit Yozgat - to shows from different opera houses, from Bergen to Wuppertal and Madrid. Afterwards, you can choose to speak with a next usher, about a different show. Call for an exciting and personal live conversation. more information
