Modern dance and music drive each other to a higher level in Jagden und Formen (Zustand 2008) by composer Wolfgang Rihm and choreographer Sasha Waltz. Jagden und Formen (Zustand 2008) is a ‘Werklandschaft’, a musical composition that Rihm has repeatedly re-written since the mid-nineties Rihm made this last version especially for choreo-grapher Sasha Waltz. With this performance Waltz shows herself again to be a master at intertwining dance and music. The dizzying energy of Rihm’s composition is answered with a choreography for dancers ánd musicians that does not try to imitate the music, but embodies the structure of the music, and truly expresses the musical figures and motives in dance.
