Sasha Waltz (Karlsruhe, 1963) is a dancer, choreographer, director and artistic director. Waltz studied at the School For New Dance Development in Amsterdam before leaving in 1986 for further training in New York. There, she established herself as both a talented dancer and choreographer, creating her first choreographies. 

In 1993, she founded her company "Sasha Waltz and Guests" with Jochen Sandig. Together, they work on developing innovative and thought-provoking performances within choreographic musical theatre.  

She has received numerous awards praising her many contributions to the field of contemporary dance, such as the “Verdienstorde der Bundesrepublik Deutschland” (2011) and the X Europe Prize Theatrical Realities, in Thessaloniki. In 2010, Waltz was appointed “Officier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres” by the French Ministry of Culture.
