For the Dutch Day of the Composer, a music train will be travelling throughout the country all day. For this occasion, the Holland Festival commissioned Meriç Artaç, whose composition will premiere at the departure from Amsterdam Central Station in the morning.

The second edition of the Day of the Composer will take place on and around Saturday 17 June 2023. A national Day of the Composer is unique in Europe. During the festival, more than 100 composers active in the Netherlands will be put in the spotlight. Free concerts will be given in several cities.

Wind players of Asko|Schönberg and trombonist Jörgen van Rijen will kick off at 9 a.m. on the IJboulevard behind Central Station in Amsterdam. Amsterdam's City Composer of the Day, Meriç Artaç will write a new composition commissioned by the Holland Festival especially for the opening.
