Spiral Mass | Soldier Songs combines two of the most exciting young composers in the New York scene, Nico Muhly and David T. Little, in a programme of extreme contrasts. Organist James McVinnie is joined by the Netherlands Chamber Choir to perform two of Muhly’s heavenly masses: the Bright Mass with Canons and the world premiere of his new Spiral Mass. From heaven we drop straight into the hell of war in David T. Little’s Soldier Songs. This concert performance with baritone Christopher Burchett and the Newspeak ensemble is enhanced by new video projections by Bill Morrison. With its raw, eclectic music Soldier Songs explores the devastating impact war has on our soldiers, their families and society at large.
