With artists Marina Abramović, Matthew Barney and William Kentridge performing at this year’s Holland Festival, a plan was hatched to invite a young generation of artists to express their ideas on the notion of performance in a non-theoretical, practical way. The Gerrit Rietveld Academy proved the ideal partner for the festival, with a similar international outlook and offering a broad perspective on professional practice.
The collaboration will result in adventurous evenings at Frascati.For two weeks, students from various arts disciplines will stage their thoughts on performance. Fine art, music and other arts expressions will be channelled in personal and contemporary works that will stimulate the discussion of what performance is, could be and should be.
