Eight-day programme about the Anthropocene, climate crisis and the role of humans

Manifesto for the living in a time of extinction is an eight-day programme about climate change in a greenhouse on the roof of a city building. On the first day, the kick-off, the audience will meet all programme partners involved.

Through a series of short interviews, the audience will learn how the whole greenhouse programme fits together and why these specific organisations are participating in it. What inspires Ama from Bloei & Groei to teach gardening to women, and why is her project so important for the city? Where did ROEF get the idea to organise festivals on roofs? What is FIBER, and in what way do they address the climate crisis with their events? All programme partners will speak, and everyone is encouraged to take part more often in the Manifesto for the living in a time of extinction during the week that follows.

Associate Artist Nicolas Stemann made it known from the beginning of the artistic collaboration with Holland Festival that he feels the climate is an important theme to delve deeper into during the festival. During this kick-off, he will talk about how, as a director, he aims to turn his creativity into work with a message.

During the eight-day programme, farmer and maker Anne van Leeuwen (founder of regenerative farm Bodemzicht and co-founder of Embassy of the North Sea) will work on a manifesto for humankind; a to-do list of sorts with things we can do for the earth. She will be present at all programmes and will construct a poetic manifesto with the knowledge she acquires together with all the visitors. During the kick-off, she will present the aim of the manifesto and her research plan for the coming week.

To attend the kick-off, you need to register with the form that can be found below the ticket button. There will be drinks immediately after the programme.
