Will you read along with us this year? In each book club gathering, we will discuss a different book that ties in with the Holland Festival’s themes and performances. Young and old, everyone is welcome in the comfortable setting of De Balie’s Salon. Think of a Sunday afternoon on the sofa with a cup of tea. Under the guidance of a moderator, the first hour will be devoted to discussing our reading experience. What particularly struck you while reading? What touched you? What did you find frustrating? Afterwards, we will go into the background of the writer and the book with an expert that we invited.
All three books share a clear connection with the festival’s programme.
HF Young Bookclub Olga Tokarczuk
Nobel laureate Olga Tokarczuk's mysterious novel Drive Your Plow Over the Bones of the Dead was the starting point for Simon McBurney and Complicity's new performance. The novel will be discussed led by writer/blogger Merel Wildschut, who is also a regular leader of Read My World's book club. Also joining us will be Dirk Zijlstra. He is one of the regular translators of Olga Tokarczuk's work for Publisher de Geus. The HF Young Bookclub will last until 5pm at the latest.
Pleasure Activism by adrienne maree brown will be discussed in the Bookclub on 11 June.
