Brecht is a Berlin style lounge café at the Weteringschans in Amsterdam, complete with standard lamps, olde worlde armchairs and traditional crockery. The idea for the cafe sprang from a love for Germany and German culture, which has produced such great writers as Goethe, Mann and, of course, Brecht. Frequently the café organises events which are somehow connected with Europe and German culture. The Holland Festival has invited a number of artists performing at the festival for an enlightening encounter in the German language. On Friday 14 June you can meet Dimitri de Perrot and Martin Zimmermann (the Swiss duo behind Hans was Heiri). For the weekend after we have invited the actors of the Berliner Ensemble.
