Harry Partch did not only develop a completely idiosyncratic collection of instruments and his own tonal system, in other respects he was also an eccentric who did not care much for conventions. He gave lectures at the British Museum and sat down for tea with the great Irish poet W.B. Yeats, but he also spent seven months as a homeless hobo, bumming down the American West coast. Of the latter adventure he recorded a diary, posthumously titled Bitter Music. The American percussionist and vocal virtuoso David Moss will present Partch's experiences in a performance which is part lecture and part concert, and will give us access into the life of the most eccentric and original composer America has ever seen.
