Addio alla fine is a location project by Amsterdam choreographers Emio Greco and Pieter C. Scholten, based on Fellini’s film E La Nave Va. In the performance the makers examine the end, not as the terminal destination but as a point of departure, a fresh beginning. The audience is taken along on a journey calling at seven stops. The performance starts at the quayside from where Greco and Scholten’s Noah’s Ark will set sail to an unknown destination. There, the audience is confronted with an accumulation of image and sound, an ever increasing number of dancers – pianissimo, piano, mezzoforte, forte, fortissimo. There seems to be enough to still believe in. The ominous end transforms into hopeful expectation.
