Emma Rice (1967) is artistiek directeur van haar gezelschap Wise Children en een internationaal gerespecteerd theatermaker en regisseur. Voor Wise Children heeft Rice de producties Bagdad Cafe, Romantics Anonymous, Enid Blyton's Malory Towers en Angela Carter's Wise Children bewerkt en geregisseerd. Als artistiek directeur van Shakespeare's Globe regisseerde ze: Romantics Anonymous, Twelfth Night, A Midsummer Night's Dream en The Little Matchgirl (and Other Happier Tales). Als gezamenlijk artistiek directeur van Kneehigh: The Flying Lovers of Vitebsk, Tristan & Yseult, 946: The Amazing Story of Adolphus Tips, The Wild Bride, The Red Shoes, The Wooden Frock, The Bacchae, Cymbeline (in samenwerking met RSC), A Matter of Life and Death (in samenwerking met National Theatre), Rapunzel (in samenwerking met Battersea Arts Centre); Brief Encounter (in samenwerking met David Pugh en Dafydd Rogers Productions); Don John (in samenwerking met RSC en Bristol Old Vic); Wah! Wah! Girls (in samenwerking met Sadler's Wells en Theatre Royal Stratford East voor World Stages); en Steptoe and Son. Rice ontving de Outstanding Contribution to British Theatre award tijdens de 2019 UK Theatre Awards, en werd in 2022 genoemd in de Sky Arts Top 50 meest invloedrijke Britse artiesten van de afgelopen 50 jaar.
