Tigran Hamasyan (1987, Armenia) is a globally recognised pianist and composer celebrated for blending jazz, classical music, Armenian folk music, into a distinctive musical style. A piano prodigy from age three, Hamasyan's talent blossomed early, winning the Montreux Jazz Festival's piano competition at age 16. His education continued in the United States, at the University of Southern California and the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music in New York City. Hamasyan's unique sound, which integrates Armenian folk traditions with jazz, electronica, and classical music, has earned him critical acclaim and a multitude of awards. His discography, including standout albums like Mockroot (2015), An Ancient Observer (2017), The Call Within (2020) and StandArt (2022) showcases his range and depth as an artist, blending intricate improvisations and contemporary music with traditional melodies.
