Residentie Orkest

Profile

The Hague Philharmonic was founded in 1904. It organises its concert series in the Dr. Anton Philipszaal. The orchestra's annual traditions include Festival Classique's Hofvijver concert and accompanying one of the Dutch National Opera's opera productions. In the 1950s, when The Hague Philharmonic was led by Willem van Otterloo, it made dozens of recordings which are still available. Subsequent conductors, like Hans Vonk, Gennady Rozhdestvensky and Neeme Järvi, have continued the developing the orchestra's good discography. Jan Willem de Vriend has been its conductor since 2015.
