Persian Poetry lights up Amsterdam pubs

Be amazed by the inspirational power of Persian poetry on our Poetry Pub Crawl through Amsterdam’s famous Jordaan district. Step into a bar to listen to a young Persian-Dutch poet or visit another pub to experience a rapper delivering the lines of classic poets such as Hafez or Rumi. Our guide will take you along on this tour, telling you all there is to know about this ancient form of poetry full of love, despair and mysticism.

Persian verse is taking the limelight at this year’s Holland Festival. Peter Brook’s The Valley of Astonishment and The Kitchen by Roysten Abel, as well as John Butcher’s Tarab Cuts, and the music of Abida Parveen are all inspired by the classic Persian Sufi poets.
