Traditionally, the Holland Festival stages one of its performances in Amsterdam’s Oosterpark. This year, people are invited to gather round a big screen to enjoy Tchaikovsky’s lyrical opera Eugene Onegin, based on Alexander Pushkin’s eponymous verse novel about a frivolous young aristocrat who takes two careless decisions that will haunt him for the rest of his life. The opera will be screened live from The Amsterdam Music Theatre. Let yourself be swept away by the drama and passion in this production by the Netherlands Opera and the predominantly Russian cast under the musical direction of Mariss Jansons. And don’t forget to bring your picnic.
