Marco Blaauw

Marco Blaauw is a trumpet soloist and member of Ensemble Musikfabrik. An important focus of his work is to further develop the instrument, it’s playing technique and to initiate new repertoire.
He has premiered many works from composers of our time, such as Peter Eötvös, Olga Neuwirth, Georg Friedrich Haas, Rebecca Saunders, Wolfgang Rihm, Georges Aperghis and John Zorn. Blaauw worked intensely with Karlheinz Stockhausen for 17 years. He has performed as a soloist with most prominent ensembles and orchestras throughout Europe His work has been documented in 6 solo CD’s, countless radio and CD recordings, and more recently, in video productions of Ensemble Musikfabrik.
Blaauw is founder of The Monochrome Project, an ensemble of 8 trumpets and initiater of the Global Breath research project. In collaboration with painter Gerhard Richter and film maker Corinna Belz, he produced the soundtrack to the film MOVING PICTURE (946-3), with music by Rebecca Saunders. Blaauw is also active as a teacher, composer and improviser.
