Inside is an art film, made in one single fascinating six-hour take, capturing a large-scale theatre experiment. The Greek artist Dimitris Papaioannou, whose new work is being performed at the festival, built a room in the Pallas Theatre in the heart of Athens. Thirty performers went home to it repeatedly. For six hours they performed the rituals, movements and habits of people in their homes. Inside shows the extraordinary similarity of all people’s behaviour when in the confines of their own home. Audiences are invited to enter whenever they want, see as much as they want, and come back as many times as they want. 'Reality stands in opposition to the aesthetically perfect appearances of the thirty young performers, who seem to have sprung from Edward Hopper and David Hockney paintings to fill the space. This endeavour manages to stimulate thought in these times of absolute impasse, where the need for mental reorientation is urgent and essential.’ – Naftemporiki Programme
