HF Young - continued

HF Young is the platform for everyone under forty with broad cultural interests that they wish to share with others. Many interesting and inspiring activities are organised especially for them before and after the festival each year to make the Holland Festival more accessible. This exposes younger, often new audiences to the festival’s themes and makers in a way that appeals to them.

Once again this year, HF Young offered special get-togethers relating to the festival programme and discounts on a selection of performances. This selection, the HF Young Favourites, was made by the HF Young Circle - eleven culture loving volunteers between 24 and 35 years old. The seven performances they selected were: HF x LOFI presents: Mbé, DJ K and more, The Bird of a Thousand Voices by Tigran Hamasyan, Ruben van Leer, Boris Acket and Areni Agbabian, Dans la mesure de l’impossible by Tiago Rodrigues, HARDKOOR by Naomi Velissariou, Theater Utrecht and the Netherlands Chamber Choir, The Divine Cypher by Ana Pi and the concert by Arthur Verocai & Metropole Orchestra. ALFA by Wunderbaum and Signal to Noise by Forced Entertainment were added to the HF Young Favourites at a later point.

An additional HF Young event was also added to the programme in collaboration with Young Stedelijk. During a special evening opening of The House with the Ocean View at the Stedelijk Museum, young visitors attended the exhibition and performance at a discount. There were also workshops on the Abramović method, and we organised a conversation with two performers performing work by Marina Abramović in the museum.

Like last year, regular HF Young visitors also first had to register in order to get the HF Young discount. This seems not to have been an impediment. This year 562 unique HF Young members registered, and HF Young sold no less than 82% of the available HF Young tickets: 858 of the 1050 available seats were filled this year. The HF Young tickets were even sold out for various performances, like HARDKOOR and  Arthur Verocai & Metropole Orchestra.

HF Young+

As of this year HF Young visitors can sign up for a paid membership: HF Young+. For €18 they support the HF Young programme and gain admission to an additional HF Young Favourite. This year this was the opening performance Rite Of Spring. HF Young+ members also receive invitations to complementary HF Young programmes, like the Kick-Off, the Deep Dive Club and extra activities during the festival and throughout the year.

During the festival, HF Young+ members, together with the Young Benefactors, were invited for a behind-the-scenes tour of HARDKOOR. They also attended an intimate in-store performance by Rogê for free before Arthur Verocai & Metropole Orchestra’s concert in the Concertgebouw and were invited for breakfast before The Second Woman.
