Het Nationale Ballet
Profile
The Dutch National Ballet is one of the Holland Festival’s regular partners. In the past ninety-five years, it has developed into a leading ballet company with a unique and broad repertoire, a tradition of innovation and 76 dancers from all over the world. The company has a prominent place in the cultural life of the Netherlands and abroad. With nearly eighty dancers in the tableau and the Junior Company as a springboard for young talent, the Dutch National Ballet is by far the largest dance company of the Netherlands. With its current team of regular choreographers – Ted Brandsen, Hans Van Manen and Rachel Beaujeanr and artistic associate David Dawson – the Dutch National Ballet has some of the most prominent representatives of contemporary ballet in its ranks. Since 1986, the company has done around seventy performances each year in its permanent home, the Dutch National Opera & Ballet. Apart from this, the company tours the major theatres of the Netherlands each year for a number of tour performances, while also doing performances abroad.
