Geumhyung Jeong (Seoul, 1980) is a choreographer and performance artist particularly interested in the role of technology and objects in our lives. Jeong first studied acting at Hoseo University in Asan (Korea) before studying dance and performance at the Korean National University of Arts and animation film at the Korean Academy of Film Arts in Seoul.
Through the use of her body and animatronic figures built from DIY parts, Jeong demands we question the bizarre relationships that have developed between people and machines. She makes use of everyday objects in her performances, relating them to her body in weird and unexpected ways. Her projects combine dance and puppetry, drawing the eye of the audience to the technicalities of theatre.
