Discover the artists, businesswomen, activists and common people who found their way, despite the constraints imposed by divides of gender, class and race. Let yourself be inspired by these heroines and discover a new perspective on Amsterdam, both the age of great change and the surprising connections with modern landmarks.
This two-hour walk starts at the Rijksmuseum, the home of the painting from Otemba – Daring Women: Portrait of Pieter Cnoll, Cornelia van Nijenrode, their two daughters Catharina and Hester, the enslaved Surapati and an enslaved woman (Batavia, 1665) by Jacob Coeman. The tour will take you through the canal district and historical centre to places connected with these lively stories. Good walking shoes and sunscreen or a hat will be necessary. The tours will be in either Dutch or English, so please check the times for your preferred language.
Badass Tours works with performers from the diverse Dutch storytelling scene and offers tours, performances and workshops about BIPOC, Jewish, LGBTQIA+ and women’s history. The stories are researched in archives throughout the Netherlands and performed at locations like the Amsterdam Museum, the Jewish Museum and Pakhuis de Zwijger. They were also supported by the European Union’s COSME programme for launching an app to make these stories more widely accessible.

in the weekend of 21-22 June, 750 years Amsterdam will be celebrated on the A10 ring road. For this, Ring West, South and East (between the exit to the A5 and the exit to the A1) will be closed. As a result, Cobra Cafe will be less accessible by car. more information
