Boris Acket
Profile
Boris Acket (Amsterdam, 1988) is a contemporary artist, composer & director specialised in multidisciplinary projects within music, installation-art, performance & film. Acket operates as a conductor of creative processes, residing within complex systems in which artist, space & medium connect as one. He creates spatial sound sculptures and audiovisual installations that invite us to challenge our perception of reality and time and to explore our relationship with nature and technology. Inspired by the natural world and a fascination of philosophical concepts he explores a blend of natural and artificial elements like wind, light, sound, movement, and technology in search of a ‘childlike sublime.’ His work often explores the boundaries between control and surrender. By marrying natural elements like sunlight or wind that can only be controlled to a certain extent with mechanically controlled wind streams and artificial lights and materials his installations and performances invite us to raise questions about the limits of human agency and the interconnectedness of human, nature and technology in a posthuman world.
His works and performances have been presented at Mutek MX, Milan Salone del Mobil, Holland Festival, La biennale del Venetia, Stedelijk Museum, Dark Matter Berlin, Lost Art Festival Berlin, NXT Museum, STRP, Het Hem, Fiber Festival, Amsterdam Dance Event, De School, Muziekgebouw aan ‘t IJ, Van Gogh Museum and featured on TEDx, Designboom, ArtNews, Resident Advisor, NRC, Volkskrant, Parool and 3voor12.
