With Around Robert Wyatt the French Orchestre National de Jazz presents new arrangements of Robert Wyatt’s songs. Wyatt is still a cult figure in English music and has been an important inspiration for a generation of musicians, notably Elvis Costello and David Bowie. In the sixties he played in progrock bands Soft Machine and Matching Mole, breaking the boundaries between pop, jazz and experimental music. In the past the Orchestre National de Jazz has also worked with rock legends Led Zeppelin. Artistic director Daniel Yvinec played with the likes of John Cale, David Sylvian and Donald Fagen. In Amsterdam the orchestra will be joined by jazz trumpeter Erik Truffaz and singer/songwriter Perry Blake.
