Abd Al Malik (Paris, 1975) is a rapper, writer, essayist, script writer and director of Congolese descent. He grew up in the residential district Neuhof in Strasbourg. He regularly collaborates with artists like Juliette Greco, Laurent Garnier and Ahmad Jamal. In his work, he bridges different cultures and music styles and calls for tolerance and self-development.

At the request of Catherine Camus, he made the theatre piece L'art et la revolte (‘Art and Revolt') as part of the activities surrounding the 100th birthday of her father Albert Camus. His solo album Gibraltar (2006) is considered one of the most important French albums in the last twenty years. The music is a unique blend of hip-hop, jazz and French chanson. He is married to the French singer Wallen, with whom he has four children. The two have recorded various duets together.
